Richard Tannenbaum

General Manager, Educational Testing Service (ETS)

Dr. Richard Tannenbaum is a General Manager in the Research and Development Division of Educational Testing Service (ETS). In this role, Richard has strategic oversight for multiple centers of research that conduct foundational and applied research in the areas of academic-to-career readiness, English language learning and assessment, K-12 student assessment, and teacher quality and diversity. Richard also oversees the ETS internal research agenda, which focuses on global educational and workforce challenges such as: “increasing sustainable access to a diverse and high-quality teaching pool”; “assessing and developing skills for the new economy”; “raising global English language proficiency”; and “increasing the diversity and quality of admission to higher education.”

Prior to this position, Richard was the Senior Research Director for the Center for Validity Research at ETS. Richard has also held the title of Director of Licensure and Certification Research at ETS where his primary responsibilities included providing measurement expertise in support of educator credentialing and building standard-setting capabilities.
