Foundational LTC Domains in Response to COVID-19

Touchstone Institute teamed with Michener Institute @UHN on a training platform to support the deployment of healthcare professionals in Long Term Care (LTC) homes. Foundational Domains developed by Touchstone Institute helped define LTC content requirements for COVID & Critical Care Learning, a platform built by Michener to support redeployment to critical care that was expanded at the request of the Ministry of Health to include LTC training materials.

Touchstone Institute worked collaboratively with subject matter experts to identify critical foundational domains and knowledge for deployment in LTC homes. The Touchstone Institute framework ensures that the online learning platform adequately addresses key skills in infection control, resident-centred care and interprofessional collaboration. This work complements Ontario’s Health Workforce Matching Portal that identifies health professionals for LTC homes experiencing significant staffing challenges.
